Physical Therapist Assistant - Inpatient - PRN

Position Objective:
Provides therapeutic treatments to patients, pediatric to geriatric, according to departmental standards and only under the direction of a Physical Therapist.
Utilizes only methods and procedures within the scope of the practice of limited physical therapy, and documents same according to departmental standards.
Essential Job Duties:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Conducts Physical Therapy treatments using a variety of appropriate treatment techniques and documents according to established departmental policies and procedures.
Participate in department or hospital initiative for the community as appropriate.
Demonstrates the ability and required competencies to cross cover by treating patients with a variety of diagnoses in various units.
Participates in departmental process improvement initiatives (huddle, metrics, and innovative ideas).
Meets departmental productivity standards and completes productivity logs in a timely manner.
Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives, engaging in excellent customer service practices, including but not limited to, following ICARE.
Actively participates in interdisciplinary meetings, departmental in-service activities and/or evidence based journal article review; conducts in-services for AAMC-funded continuing education courses in a timely manner.
Immediately discontinues any treatment procedure which appears to be harmful to the patient and notifies the supervising physical therapist.
Consults with and serves as a resource for physicians, nursing staff, and other clinicians to increase knowledge of Physical Therapy and to identify the need for Physical Therapy services for patients of all ages.
Functions as Supervisor in the absence of the Physical Therapy Supervisor, as designated.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
Previous acute care experience; however, new graduates will be considered depending on current departmental staffing.
Required License/Certifications:
Current license to practice Limited Physical Therapy by the Board of Physical Therapy Examiners of Maryland.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification.
Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:
There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
Physical Demands - Heavy liftingHeavy work.
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
