An Assistant Director of PACU is needed to lead a growing department at a hospital just a short drive from Washington DC.
The 300-bed hospital is in the midst of $120 million dollars expansion and is part of one of the largest health systems in the region. The Surgical Services Department will see its ORs grow from 10 rooms to 15 and an expansion of its Recovery Room. This academic hospital has one of the busiest ER’s in the area and is particularly well regarded for their Heart and Stroke Programs. Their Heart Program is particularly lauded, including being named one of the country’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention and being a 5-Star Recipient for Treatment of Heart Failure In addition, they were named a Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence from Healthgrades.
The Assistant Nurse Director of Recovery Room Services will be the most senior PACU Nurse reporting to a highly accomplished Director of Surgical Services. This is a new position that will oversee both the areas of PreOp and PACU as well as an ancillary Pain Management Clinic. The PACU Nurse Leader will have 30 Direct Reports and the Recovery Room currently houses 5 beds but will be expanding in the near future. Surgeries include Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac, Urology and other general surgery cases.
Roles and Responsibilities of this position are as follows:
- Accountability and responsibility for the leadership, direction, and management on assigned nursing unit on a 24-hour/7 day a week basis in the absence of the Director of Perioperative Services.
- Acts as support to the unit by assisting in any assignment or staffing, support of the clinical staff for the delivery of care to the patients, is a resource to staff, patients, and family members of patients, physicians, and all other support modalities.
