A busy Emergency Room just outside of Metropolitan Washington DC seeks a Trauma Program Educator to help grow its Level 2 Program and coordinate its Community Outreach services.

Knowing that the first minutes of a trauma patient spends in an Emergency Room can have lasting impact on their outcomes of care, the hospital has built a state-of- the- art Emergency Department that includes:
- 27 acute-care treatment beds including eight private acute-care treatment rooms, a 4-bed resuscitation area, an observation unit, and two trauma rooms
- A state designated Level II Trauma Center and the second busiest trauma center in the state of Maryland seeing over 3, 000 trauma patients per year
- A designated STEMI center with a comprehensive Cardiac Care Program including 24-hour cardiac catheterization and open-heart surgery capabilities for all acute heart emergencies – the only hospital in Prince George’s County that provides these services

The Trauma Program Outreach Coordinator and Educator position will work to reduce the burden of injury, improve the health of diverse populations, reduce or eliminate health disparities and improve trauma education through collaboration with trauma systems’ partners, to include, schools, community and public health agencies, pre-hospital EMS providers, Fire and Police agencies, and other healthcare professionals.
A large function of this role will be to provides trauma related education to hospital staff, including nurses, technicians, and other personnel who come in contact with trauma patients .The Trauma Educator will perform education and other outreach to referral hospitals and pre-hospital providers, to include Fire/EMS/Helicopter personnel in MD/DC area. They will also assist with writing and administering education grants to provide trauma education as well as schedule and coordinate monthly trauma presentations, locally and regionally
