Gaffney Fitness Center provides state of the art cardiovascular equipment, free weights, and strength machines to meet patrons workout needs. Additional facilities include racquetball courts, saunas, an aerobics room, a combatives room, a 25 meter pool, and a spin room. Group fitness classes and personal training are also available.
This position is responsible for the safety of the patrons by enforcing rules, responding to incidents, and maintaining a clean and safe pool environment.
Schedule: Applicants must be able to work days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
### Duties
Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests. Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training or assisting with American Red Cross swim lessons as an Aide. Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Adheres to Customer Service standards of the Installation.
Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures. Warns patrons who disregard safety rules. Assists in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs. Maintains daily logs, reports and records as required.

### Qualifications
Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid. For Water Parks upgrade the certification to: 'Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR/PR/AED' (American Red Cross).
Copies of Certifications must be submitted at the time of application.
Conditions of Employment:
1. Meet all qualification/eligibility requirements.
2. A completed and signed copy DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty.
3. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-VERIFY) check.
4. Appointment is subject to completion of a favorable background checks/investigation to determine suitability for this position.
5. Must be able to work days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
6. Successfully complete all required background checks to include a local law enforcement check, a Child and Youth National Agency Check with Inquiries.
7.Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged period of high temperature and humidity.
8. Successful completion of a health assessment is required.
9. Applicants must be willing to work irregular hours to include evenings and holidays as required.
10. Lifeguards will participate in any required training (on-the-job training emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations).

Flexible/Intermittent positions are ineligible for employee benefits. Conversion of employment category (from Flex to RPT/RFT) may be accomplished without further competition in accordance with AR 215-3.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
