Wind Commissioning Technicians are responsible for initial startup and operation of GE wind turbines. Acts as part of a team to achieve safe and efficient operation following satisfactory turnover from GE?s designated construction contractor. Perform the initial
startup on the turbine. Synchronize turbine to the grid and prepare it for normal operations, work is 80% Electrical, 20% Mechanical. Will be part of a team that performs maintenance, electrical repair and modification to Wind Turbines
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Climb 300 feet wind tower multiple times each day (There are two to three decks between the bottom and yaw decks to take a break if needed).
+ Successfully complete site training including GE EHS Climb Test
+ Understanding of basic AC/DC electrical circuits and ability to T/S and conduct circuit analysis (24VDC, 166VDC, 120, 230, 400, 575, 690VAC) Understanding of PLC Controls is a plus
+ Mechanical aspects include but not limited to oil/oil filter changes, lubrication, generator to gearbox alignments and torquing
+ Work at heights of up to 300+ feet
+ Work in confined space(s)
+ Lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
+ Work outside in extreme temperatures and weather conditions. (i.e. Desert in the summer and freezing conditions in the winter)
+ Must have one to three years of electrical background
+ Comprehend and retain provided safety training and be able to follow safety procedures at all times.
+ 10 hour OSHA Safety training qualified
+ Must use/wear proper PPE i.e. hard hats, steel toe boots, gloves, climbing gear, lanyards/lad safe and harness
+ Pass the 1.5MW turbine training course
+ Completed the EHS requirements for commissioning and adherence
+ Proficient with electrical test equipment
+ Proficient at reading electrical schematics
+ High level computer skills including understanding of network communications (IP addressing)
+ Proficient at troubleshooting electrical circuits
+ Mechanical skills include understanding of bolt torque, bearing lubrication, Heating and
+ Ventilation
+ Responsible for immediate report of errors, violations or problems to Granite lead for action.
+ Responsible for performing all tasks assigned by the site management.
+ Extended times of travel and work overtime in a moments notice.
+ Education/Experience/Training:Two year technical degree or equivalent experience with a minimum 3 years experience as a technician.- - -

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
