Senior Computer Scientist (Government)

This position requires a senior software engineer providing full system and software life-cycle support for incremental software functionality. The candidate should be self-motivated, enjoy working directly with the customer and with the end-users and value high quality software.
All candidates must have a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (CCA not acceptable)

  • competitive applicant will have a minimum of 7 years of computer science experience with high level knowledge of languages.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with designing, coding, testing, and debugging software to run under either Microsoft Windows (XP or later) or UNIX (Solaris 8 or later, Redhat LINUX) Operating System is required.

  • experience with both compiled and interpreted languages, Python, experience designing and developing software that interfaces with other systems, and in designing, developing, testing, deployment, documentation and sustaining a product is needed as well.

  • Other requirements include object oriented design experience, strong LINUX skills, full stack development (GUI through to the database), and ability to pick up new technologies quickly.

  • The candidate must have a proactive attitude, strong customer service skills, and the ability to integrate into an existing technical team comprised of contractors and government customers are required.

Additionally, preferred skills include strong experience in design and the ability to perform design that is easily maintained, experience with Software Version Control (preferably Git), knowledge of Docker, event Driven Programming Patterns, and Service Oriented Architecture. Experience designing and developing web applications using Java and the Spring Framework developing web-based GUIs using Javascript, jQuery, JSP, and HTML, experience using the Eclipse development environment and installing Eclipse plugins, strong experience using the JUnit testing framework to create unit tests and basic understanding of Linux command line interactions and permissions configuration. A preferred candidate will be a good listener and team player as well as open minded, a good collaborator and proactive in resolving problems.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
