About the opportunity: Our Airline and Network Services business unit is looking for a Radio Communications Network Engineer to support the Data Communications (Data Comm) Network Service (DCNS) Communications Service Provider (CSP) contract. The DCNS CSP is an element of the FAA's Next Generation Air Transportation System. Under this contract, ARINC provides air-ground network connectivity service to commercial aircraft participating in the Data Comm program.
If accepted for this position you would become a critical component of our GLOBALink Implementation team and work in tandem with the DCNS Program Office. It will require you to serves as a field engineer providing connectivity, integration and technical expertise, as well as troubleshooting, inspection and functionality reporting for aeronautical RF / VHF ground to air messaging and communications services.
Other duties may include:
Evaluate, test and analyze communication equipment such as radio and antenna systems and recommend service, adjustments and / or maintenance.
RF / VHF radio network deployment and implementation planning
Conduct research and prepare, provide and report on system and / or network functionality, falures and efficiency.
Develop cooperative working relationships with internal engineering and operations teams as well as external customers and stakeholders

Qualifications
To be considered for this position you must have at least eight (8) years of experience conducting maintenance, modification, testing and analysis of RF / VHF messaging and radio communications capabilities. This experience must include complex, fully integrated radio communications systems and networks. Your experience can be from the commercial or military sectors.
Other qualifications include:
Able to perform in-depth RF / VHF communications network assessments and analysis.
Experienced with technologies and systems relevant to Data Comm Network Service, most notably; FANS1/A, ATN, ACARS, VDL mode 2.
Able to brief, mentor and make maintenance, functionality and servicing recommendations to radio field service technicians and engineers.
Experienced in analyzing, integrating, testing and troubleshooting RF / VHF systems.
Must be able to lift and carry fifty pounds and climb towers and stepped poles up to fifty feet in height.
Competent in air traffic services, FCC standards and FAA communications requirements.
Willing to travel to potentially remote radio transmission sites and conduct inspections and assessments.
This position will require a criminal history check. The background check includes the ability to meet certain eligibility requirements, one of which is having either U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien Status. Finally, you must have resided within the United States for 3 consecutive years of the last 5 years.
Desired
Experience: Candidates who possess significant amounts of aeronautical RF / VHF radio communications equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, testing and analysis experience will be given preferred consideration.
Required Education/Certification: To be considered candidates must have completed a technical training course in electronics or radio equipment maintenance. This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Radio Communications, however it is not required. An equivalent amount of radio communications network related experience may an acceptable substitute.
