Loews Annapolis Hotel, a 215 room upscale full service hotel property is seeking a full time host person for our three meal restaurant West Kitchen and Tavern. Featuring regional, seasonal cuisine, West Kitchen and tavern is known for its friendly and unpretentious service while focusing on a quality product for hotel guests and Annapolis guests alike.
The position of host person is responsible for greeting and seating guests in the restaurant. He or she coordinates seating to balance the workload among the servers, oversees dining room maintenance and monitors service to ensure guest satisfaction.
Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supervises servers and server assistants in the absence of a manager
Controls reservation book, accepts reservations and ensures they are entered in the the reservation system correctly
Maintains guest history files
Assigns work stations and pre-meal side work, inspects dining room and service areas to ensure completion of all tasks prior to start of the meal period
Inspects menus to ensure cleanliness and acceptability
Determines guest needs, verifies table availability and assigns appropriate seating and guides guest to the appropriate table. Ensures removal of unnecessary place settings at the table(s)
Notifies server of guest seating and communicates any special needs or requests
Inspects dining room on an ongoing basis, assigns correction of deficiencies to the appropriate team member
Maintains an organized workspace/host stand
Monitors dining room activity and assists servers and assistants as needed to ensure performance to standard.
All other duties as assigned.
The Host person is a full time position and will report to the Restaurant General Manager. Required Skills & Experience:
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in an upscale and fast paced customer service setting. Previous restaurant experience is preferred but not required. Additional required qualifications include:
Exceptional guest service skills
Effectively display an attitude of team work behaviors
Exceptional communication skills - verbal and written
Excellent organizational skills, and strong detail orientation
A dependable work history
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays. Shifts for the position can start as early as 6:00am for the AM shift, or be as late as midnight for the PM shift.
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
