)Provides subject matter expertise related to federal, state, Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Navy (DoN) policies governing research ethics, Human Subjects Research (HSR), and Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) to support the United States Naval Academy (USNA).
Maintains relevant HRPP documentation including SOPs, Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification records, and HRPP records.
Coordinates scheduling and provides administrative support for formal meetings of the Academy's IRB to review USNA research protocols.
Provide Meeting Minutes for all IRB Meetings.
Assists faculty, staff and midshipmen at USNA and faculty, staff and students at NAPS with the development and preparation of complete research protocol packages, for submission to the USNA HRPP Office.
Review human research protocol submissions according to SOPs to ensure that human subject research complies with all applicable federal, state and local regulations as well as institutional policies and procedures and guidelinesPrepares and submits reviewed protocol packages to the Superintendent for review and approve/disapprove decision.
Prepares for submission all reports and records required to be forwarded to Senior Navy Leadership, DON-HRPP, and elsewhere concerning the protection of human subjects involved in research at the Naval Academy and/or NAPS.
Reviews, responds to, and tracks in accordance with SOP guidance, all incoming HRPP related correspondence addressed to USNA.
Monitor the Academy's HRPP websites for currency and accuracy of information, broken links, etc.
Provide updates as necessary.
Serve as a liaison and information resource to investigators and research personnel by advising them on all federal requirements and policies for approval of research with humans.
Work with the HRPP Director, IRB Chair, and others; develop and implement new policies, procedures and educational information as needed.
Participate in regional and national HRP conferences and educational events.
Provide other office administrator duties as necessary to aid in successful operations.
