Director of Ambulatory Services

The Director of Ambulatory Operations (DAO) will assist with the management, direction, and supervision of daily operations for the the Company's ambulatory surgical centers (ASC's).
The DAO will use independent judgement and initiative in the administration, direction, and coordination ASC function and activities.
Responsibilities include leading negotiations, budgeting, purchasing, optimization of O.
R.
utilization and procedure scheduling, coordinating with patient scheduling and prior authorization departments, and putting efficient workflows in place to maximize productivity and performance.
The DAO assists in the development of long-term operational strategies and works closely with senior management and other departments to meet company objectives.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with Senior Leadership to assist in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans for ambulatory services.
Increases efficiencies via interdepartmental collaboration.
Assists senior leadership team in setting quarterly goals for operational improvements and ensures proper implementation of said goals.
Works with senior leadership to develop financial goals and budgetary planning for the ambulatory services division.
Analyzes current processes within the ambulatory services division and recommends and implements improvements, when needed.
Coordinates and provides leadership for daily operations of the ambulatory services division.
Reports back to senior management regarding operational progress, as well as any obstacles/barriers faced by the operational team.
Implements decisions/plans regarding operational activity and strategic goals to streamline operations, creates synergies between surgical centers, identifies best practices, and develops cost saving measures for the ambulatory services division.
Plans, monitors, and analyzes key metrics for day-to-day operations of the ambulatory services division.
Deploys process improvements to maximize output while minimizing costs.
Assists in the coordination of scheduling of ASC staff/personnel/physicians.
This may include direct scheduling of ambulatory services and related staff.
Partners with scheduling department and other key stakeholders to ensure proper scheduling and utilization of staff for sedation/anesthesia days.
Partners with revenue cycle team and other key stakeholders to ensure proper billing and maximum revenue generation.
Assist in the development and growth of new and existing ASCs.
Works with senior leadership in the creation of new departments/divisions, as needed, to drive growth, patient safety/quality care, and profitability.
Adheres to the company's policies and standards, and ensure that laws and regulations are followed.
Coordinate with Human Resources to lead the team with integrity and to establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.
Checks work e-mail on a regular basis throughout the workday.
Participate in and complete all required trainings and in-services.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university WITH a minimum of five (5) years related experience.
Must have at least three (3) years directly managing healthcare operations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Adobe PRO).
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, other co-workers and the public.
Must be able to work individually as well as within a team.
Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
Must be able to effectively lead and manage a team of healthcare professionals.
Must have prior experience assessing and managing a P&L.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Must be able to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations.
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize.
Must demonstrate extreme attention to detail.
Must possess strong organization skills.
Must be able to problem solve and use reasoning.
Must be able to meet predefined quality standards.
Must maintain and project a professional attitude and appearance at all time.
Must have a working knowledge of the healthcare field and medical specialty, as well as medical terminology.
Must provide proof of influenza vaccination annually.

Five (5) years experience working in an operations role for outpatient surgical services Five (5) years experience with scheduling and management of personnel Five (5) years experience managing budgets and business plans Five (5) years experience with recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, and training of new personnel Driving/Travel:
The employee must have reliable transportation.
Travel for this position may be required up to 100%.
While the primary workplace may be closest to the employee's home, work assignments could be in any of the Company's locations.
